The EU’s NIS2 Directive, which replaces the original Network and Information Systems Directive, sets higher cybersecurity standards for critical infrastructure operators, digital service providers, and many other organizations. Entities covered must implement risk management practices, report incidents, and ensure supply chain security. Each EU member state is required to transpose the directive into national law by October 17, 2024. Failure to comply could result in significant fines and reputational harm.
