A German consumer rights group, Verbraucherzentrale NRW, attempted to prevent Meta Platforms from using public posts from Facebook and Instagram to train its AI models. However, a court in Cologne denied the injunction request, allowing Meta to proceed with its AI training practices within the European Union. Meta plans to use public content posted by adult users, as well as data from user interactions with AI, to train its models, while notifying EU users and offering an opt-out option.
