Hosted by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), the International Symposium on Legal and Commercial Perspectives on Green Taxes and Tax Incentives will take place on November 25, 2024, in Istanbul. This event will bring together global perspectives on green taxation policies and incentives. Held at the TOBB Istanbul Service Building in Esentepe, the symposium will be conducted in a hybrid format, offering both in-person and online participation options.
The symposium will begin with opening remarks from notable experts, including Prof. Dr. Funda Başaran Yavaşlar, TOBB Tax Advisory Board Chairman Fatih Dural, and Ministry of Treasury and Finance Tax Council Chairman Osman Dinçbaş.
The first session will delve into the impact of the European Union’s green taxation policies on international trade and explore Turkey’s position in this evolving framework. Following this, a panel discussion will evaluate the taxation and incentive policies of leading states in global trade.
Dr. iur. Ali Osman Özdilek’s Insights on China’s Perspective
One of the symposium’s highlights will be the presentation by Dr. iur. Ali Osman Özdilek of the European Law Institute. In the second session, he will join Prof. Dr. Feng Long to deliver an in-depth analysis of green taxes and incentives in China. Dr. Özdilek will examine China’s environmental taxation policies from legal and commercial perspectives. This presentation promises to be a significant source of insight, particularly given China’s growing influence in global trade.
The final session will focus on the financial obligations of environmentally friendly production from a sectoral perspective. Discussions will address the steel, cement, and energy industries, as well as the role of tax incentives in financing sustainability initiatives.
